What are unique item tiers?

    I am having a hard time understanding Unique Item Tier.
    What does it mean having an item tier 1?
    How many tiers are there?
    Is it worth keeping low lv unique tier 1 items or just melt them down?

    Is there are any hidden/obscure wiki pages or forum guides where I can read more information about this?
